Abdullah Al Hadi, First Poetic Reciter of Meghnadbadh.

Meghnadbadh Kavya is a Bengali epic verse by Michael Madhusudan Dutt. Regarded as a central work in Bengali literature and Dutta’s greatest literary work as well as the finest epic in Bengali literature and also as one of the greatest works of world literature. And Abdullah Al Hadi is trying to give it a poetic enigma with his Magical voice.

In many ways, Michael Madhusudan Datta (1824-73 C.E.), exceptional as a poet and playwright in both English and Bangla (also known as Bengali).

And his poem Meghnadbadh is rising into splendid popularity. Some say he is better than Milton—; many say he licks Kalidasa. Many don’t think it impossible to equal Virgil, Kalidasa, and Tasso.

However, the central work of Bengali literature Meghnadbadh didn’t come to light brightly past because of a few imperialist and somewhat religious cause, which is still in race. In the year 1861 Meghnadbadh was published but it had not been recited popularly till the time of its first 150 years.

The time may be in the year 2001 or 2002, A reverted reciter name Professor Naren Biswas was heard in cassette player part 1 and part 2 out of 9 only for its Bengali pronunciation. Then in the year 2017, Goutam Halder tried to give a theatrical vibe in part one or two and lastly, it was till part six. And in the year 2019 Abdullah Al Hadi started the journey solely in a poetic manner and in 2023 he read part 8.

Nowadays many of us recite Meghnadbadh which is a good sign for increasing literature values in society.

Meghnafbadh, The Slaying of Meghnad the son of Ravan, has nine canto. The first one is Avishek, it is the introduction. The second one is Astra Labo (arms gaining), 3rd one Somagomo (gathering), 4th is Ashak Bano (Ashoka Forest), 5th- Uddaga (initiative) 6th- Badha (the slaughter) 7th- Shakti Nirvedo (make powerless) 8th- Pretopuri (ghost world) 9th is Sanskriya (ritual).

The Slaying of Meghanada (1861). That epic, a Bangla version of the Ramayana story in which Ravana, not Rama, is the hero, has become a classic of Indian Literature.

For most of the part of Abdullah Al Hadi’s recitation Rifat Nobel was the Background music player which is important too. Though the popular first part of it was Ahnaf Khan Anik and the second part was done by Sharif Arefin Rony. And Abdullah Al Hadi’s versatile recitation style gave it another dimension.
